What's your name?
Susan Yarnall (née Logue), but I generally go by Meri Greenleaf instead. What can I say, I like my nickname better. (Occasionally I'll also go by Merily Thranduiliell, Merily Greenleaf, or some such combination; the reason is that my alias started out as Merily Thranduiliell, but since "Thranduiliell" was too hard to spell, it got shortened to "Greenleaf".)

Describe yourself in five words.
Artistic, bookworm, goofy, fantasy obsessed
If you were a color, what would you be?
Green! A foresty, earthy kind of green- the color of flourishing trees and plants.
If you were a "Dungeons and Dragons"/fantasy character or creature, what would you be? (Can be a specific character, or something general like "elven bard", "centaur", etc).
An Elfling (half-Wood Elf/half-Halfling) bard/druid. I'm cheerful and silly like a halfling, but I'm very comfortable among trees and forest and am somewhat of a recluse, preferring my animal companions to human ones. (The bard part would be my extreme knowledge of literature, love of learning and my artisticness, of course!) I can't imagine living somewhere not surrounded by trees!
If you could live anywhere (or anywhen), where/when would it be?
Mirkwood in Middle Earth, anytime. As creepy as the forest was when it was filled with spiders and evil, icky creatures, it still feels like home. Of course I'd probably prefer it after it was cleansed and renamed Eryn Lasgalen, but Wood Elves would be comfortable in it at any time. ;)
What is your greatest dream or goal?
To become a published author while still making my art on the side. I've also always had dreams of becoming a professor of early British literature, but I've kind of put that one on hold.
What was your very first piece of art? How long have you been an artist?
Probably a drawing- my dad still has them hanging up at his work area in the garage. I've always been an artist; in school I took as many art classes as I possibly could and I never really stopped creating. :)
If you sell your art, how did you get started?
I think one of my friends mentioned Etsy back in early 2007, so I signed up and within a month or so opened my shop. :) The first things I sold were crocheted, but looking back they weren't that good since I'd only just learned how to crochet.
What is the strangest thing you've ever made?
That's gotta be something for my best friend- I've made strange plushies (including a death and a parrot) and a boob dragon (that was a weird request) for her:
Then again, it's not like what I usually make is normal, lol.
Pick your favorite project/artwork- what is it and what inspired you on it?
That would be a doll, but the problem is that picking a doll would be like picking a favorite child! I can narrow it down to three, though.
He's my favorite Smash Bros character so of course I had to make a doll of him for myself. ;)
From the Zelda games, but also from Smash Bros. This was a present for my best friend who always plays Dark Link. When I ever cosplay Pit, she'll probably be Dark Link, lol. I'm also really proud of the work I did on his shield and scabbard:
And my other favorite doll is of my current Dungeons and Dragons character, Cyneric:
I'm really happy with how he came out and his shield is exactly how I imagine it to look. :)
What kind of advice would you give to other artists?
You should always follow your heart and your muse, and make what you want to make, not what you think other people would like. There's bound to be a target audience for what you create; they just have to find you.
What is your favorite:
Color? Green! Green, green, green! I also like blue, and any cool colors are great. And hot pink, for some reason (what? I was a kid on the 80s).
Quote? "You cannot depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus." ~Mark Twain
Book? The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien, The Tempest by Shakespeare, and Thief of Time by Terry Pratchett.
Character? (book or whatever) Once again, hard to pick... Do the top four count? Meriadoc Brandybuck and Eowyn from Lord of the Rings and Susan Sto Helit and Lobsang Ludd from the "Discworld" series by Terry Pratchett.
TV show and/or movie? I don't watch a lot of tv, but I do like Star Trek, Jeopardy, Big Bang Theory, Red Dwarf, and Futurama, and my favorite movies are the LotR ones. :)
Season? Spring and summer- I love the times of the year when things are blooming. I absolutely hate winter.
Food? Chicken stir fry- my husband makes such a yummy one!
Animal? Housecat (especially my black kitty), foxes, and turtles. Dogs are cool, too, as are dolphins. I just love animals!
Art medium and/or supply? I hate to play favorites, but probably crochet. For all that I know a bunch of kinds of art, that's the one I really feel I'm good at. Everything else I just mess with. ;)
